The CAPS 4.0 System consists of three separate programs: CAPS Loader, CAPS 4.0 and CAPS Reports. All are linked to the CAPS SQL database. Performance data is imported with CAPS Loader, composites are setup and managed in CAPS 4.0 and reports are run through CAPS Reports. 

Import
The market values and returns for each portfolio are loaded into the CAPS database. The CAPS Loader program provides a fast and easy way for this process and works with all performance/accounting systems or from spreadsheets, thus eliminating data entry and the risk of manual error. Portfolio characteristics, tracking fields (any portfolio-specific data, e.g.: duration), benchmarks and exchange rates can also be imported through CAPS Loader.

Build
Once the data is loaded, composites can be created using the Composite Setup screen in the CAPS 4.0 program. The various policy wizards help you set the appropriate parameters for your composites. 

Maintain
Going forward, composites are maintained within the CAPS 4.0 program. Maintenance features include alerts for portfolios that fall outside the parameters set for a composite. The user can then take the appropriate action to ensure the firm is maintaining compliance with GIPS®. Every change creates an automatic audit trail with several categories of audit notes. Users may also edit/maintain portfolio characteristics directly in the CAPS 4.0 program.

Report
CAPS Reports generates reports that help you audit the composite and portfolio performance for GIPS® compliance and leverage performance for effective marketing. There are currently over 25 different preset (but modifiable) reports on the system, many of which have been designed by our clients. Additionally, you have the option to create and save Custom reports with the CAPS Custom Report Builder. 

The information within each report can be exported to a word processor or spreadsheet for presentations or further analysis.
