CAPS 4.0 is a suite of three Windows® software programs that work as a compliance system for building and maintaining composites: CAPS Loader, CAPS 4.0 and CAPS Reports. The system allows you to define compliance policies for your firm and for your composites. The system then monitors all of your portfolios and alerts you whenever a portfolio breaches a compliance policy.
Direct data feed from portfolio accounting system - No data entry, less error risk.
CAPS Loader provides a fast and easy way to import portfolio performance data, property data and more from any accounting/performance measurement system or from XLS, CSV or TXT files into the CAPS database. Benchmarks may also be imported for inclusion in many reports. Exchange rates can be uploaded into the CAPS database to calculate composites in different currencies than portfolio base currency (conversion will be automatic to the selected composite base currency) or for running reports in different currencies. Firms with multiple firm definitions (e.g. a holding with several asset management subsidiaries) may set separate database IDs to enable separate and grouped reporting.
Standard Features include:
- Simplify GIPS® compliance by organizing all portfolios and data in one central location.
- Import data from all major accounting systems or spreadsheets.
- Capture and store a variety of information, including portfolio performance and property data, benchmark data, tracking field data and more.
- Easily create and maintain carve-outs/ cash allocation.
- User activity is monitored by userid/timestamp.
- All data is easily exported to other systems for additional analysis.
- Over 25 pre-defined reports provide specific information on composite activity, compliance and performance.
- Create composites in a few simple steps following user-friendly wizards.
- Include asset class performance for portfolios and composites.
- Composites can be setup for any asset class (Total, Equity, Fixed, Cash and up to 32,000 user-defined asset classes).
- Composite setup can define all policies for portfolios to be included in the composite.
Composite policies may include: - Portfolio characteristics (e.g. by manager, fee status, tax status, custom fields, etc).
- Market value size criteria (e.g. minimum $1m).
- The number of full months a portfolio must be under management before it is added to a composite (grace period).
- The investment level of each asset class (e.g. portfolio equity holdings from 30% to 70% for a balanced composite).
- User-defined tracking fields (up to 225) such as capitalization, duration, number of holdings and any other information you wish to track.
- Significant Cash Flows.
Once the data is loaded using CAPS Loader, composites can be setup and populated in CAPS 4.0. Each policy type tab runs through a user-friendly wizard for setup. In addition to the policies described above, users can create fee and tax schedules at the composite or portfolio level. Other Composite Setup options include calculation method (BMV or other) and create/edit/save disclosures for the composite.
Three optional features are multi-currency reports, after-tax performance calculation and reporting, and multi-firm definition.
