Caps, Inc. provides composite management and reporting software to help firms achieve and maintain compliance with GIPS®. The rules-based software allows detailed composite policies to be established and monitored over time. 

The software builds compliant composites and notifies users of participation changes required on a month-to-month basis. Companies that utilize CAPS 4.0 achieve the highest level of control over their composite structures. Users can quickly build composites for compliance purposes or other requests. The system monitors all user activity and automatically builds comprehensive audit reports that demonstrate compliance achievements to verifiers and auditors. 

Reporting capabilities extend beyond performance reporting. The CAPS reporting system allows detailed reports on Assets Under Management, Portfolio Gain/Loss, Composite Audit, Composite Dispersion, Performance Presentation, Composite Attribution and Risk Measurement.

Background:

CAPS, Inc. was founded in 1996 by David Yuska. Prior to founding CAPS, David was a verifier of AIMR® compliance. In his experience as a verifier, David realized that investment managers needed a better process for tracking portfolios in composites.

Working with three investment management firms (a large trust company, an institutional manager and a small investment manager), CAPS, Inc. began building a software program to help these firms create composite structures and track all portfolios under management for AIMR® compliance. The program was tailored to meet the needs of each type of manager and provide the information necessary for marketing to the clients that each company managed.
Version 1 was released in January, 1998. 

In 2004, CAPS 4.0 was released. CAPS 4.0 represents a significant enhancement from the previous versions including many new features but mostly because it runs on Microsoft SQL Server in an environment that significantly increases the performance of the database in terms of user access and speed.
